Editorial Council reviews Volume 2 of the second edition of the State Pharmacopoeia

On 30 April 2026, the Editorial Council of the State Pharmacopoeia of the Republic of Uzbekistan held its regular meeting in a hybrid (online and offline) format. The session was chaired by Professor X.K. Djalilov, Chairman of the Editorial Council. One of six hybrid meetings convened during the reporting period, the gathering focused above all on preparing Volume 2 of the second edition of the State Pharmacopoeia.

On the first item of the agenda, A.O. Zaynidinov, Scientific Secretary of the Editorial Board, presented the substance of two orders of the Minister of Health: Order No. 14, approving the regulation on the procedure for developing general pharmacopoeial texts and pharmacopoeial monographs and their inclusion in the State Pharmacopoeia, and Order No. 15, on the procedure for applying the test methods of the world's leading pharmacopoeias. On the following item, A.X. Mansurov, Scientific Secretary of the Editorial Council, reported on Order No. 404 of 29 December 2025 approving Volume 1 of the second edition and on the work under way to ensure its implementation.

The central item of the meeting concerned the structure of Volume 2 of the second edition. Professor X.K. Djalilov delivered a presentation on the pharmacopoeial monographs planned for inclusion in the volume. It was noted that the 1,325 individual pharmacopoeial monographs earmarked for the volume had been compiled on the basis of an analysis of the State Register of medicines, medical devices and medical equipment authorized for use in medical practice in the Republic of Uzbekistan. Of these 1,325 monographs, 764 are already contained in Volume 2 of the first edition of the State Pharmacopoeia.

The chairs of the Expert Commissions also briefed participants on a range of issues, existing challenges, developments and ongoing work. In conclusion, the meeting agreed to further accelerate the preparation of Volume 2 of the second edition.

For reference, the Editorial Council is responsible for preparing the State Pharmacopoeia and its annexes for publication, republication and revision, introducing corrections and amendments, replacing texts with new ones, and harmonizing them with the texts of internationally recognized pharmacopoeias.
