First Volume of the Second Edition of the State Pharmacopoeia Approved
Order No. 404 of the Minister of Health (29 December 2025) approved the first volume of the State Pharmacopoeia's second edition; the layout is complete and a print-and-electronic project is ready.
On 29 December 2025, the Minister of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan signed Order No. 404 "On the approval of the first volume of the second edition of the State Pharmacopoeia of the Republic of Uzbekistan." Acting on this order, in the first half of 2026 (January–June) the State Pharmacopoeia Development Division completed the page layout of the first volume of the second edition and prepared its electronic-form draft.
Preparing the volume required a substantial body of translation and editorial work. This work was fully completed for the 334 European Pharmacopoeia (Ph. Eur.) monographs slated for inclusion in the first volume, for the 51 monographs from the appendix to the first edition of the State Pharmacopoeia, and for the changes, additions and withdrawn texts of 22 United States Pharmacopeia (USP) monographs spanning USP editions 9 through 12.
In parallel, a draft technical specification was developed for issuing the first volume in both printed (book) and electronic form, enabling the edition to reach users in the traditional printed format as well as a modern electronic one.
To prepare for putting the new edition into practice, a dedicated seminar was held as a webinar on 12 February 2026 under the title "The second edition of the State Pharmacopoeia: a new stage in harmonising international and modern requirements." It brought together responsible specialists from organisations conducting research on the development of domestic medicines, as well as from enterprises that manufacture medicines and medical devices and control their quality.
The first volume of the second edition marks an important step in aligning the national pharmacopoeia with leading international pharmacopoeias — the European Pharmacopoeia and the United States Pharmacopeia — and further strengthens the regulatory foundation for ensuring the quality of medicines in the country.
