International Cooperation
Uzbekistan's State Pharmacopoeia works with EDQM, USP, WHO, ICH and IPRP and is preparing to join the Pharmacopoeial Discussion Group (PDG).
International cooperation is one of the strategic directions in the development of the State Pharmacopoeia of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The Department maintains direct ties with leading national and regional pharmacopoeias and with authoritative international organizations, working to harmonize national standards with global requirements and secure their recognition. The ultimate aim of this work is to prepare for membership in the Pharmacopoeial Discussion Group (PDG).
EDQM and the European Pharmacopoeia
In 2019, an agreement was reached with the European Directorate for the Quality of Medicines (EDQM) on the right to harmonize and reproduce texts. Today, the Department's specialists take part as members in Expert Groups 12 and 17 of the European Pharmacopoeia Commission, and they participated in the Commission's 182nd session.
USP (United States Pharmacopeia)
On 12 May 2023, a contract on the "United States Pharmacopeia – National Formulary adoption rights" was concluded with the United States Pharmacopeia (USP), followed by a memorandum of understanding on 8 September 2023. Department representatives also take part in the work of the USP Convention.
WHO and the world's pharmacopoeias
The Department participates as a member in the work on the International Pharmacopoeia (Ph. Int.) of the World Health Organization (WHO). It also takes part regularly in the International Meeting of World Pharmacopoeias (IMWP): the 15th meeting was held in New Delhi and the 16th in Brazil.
ICH and IPRP
The Department is engaged in the ICH Assembly and its expert working groups, including work on the Q5E Annex. Within the IPRP, it contributes to the QWG and IDMPWG working groups.
Bilateral and regional cooperation
The Department also cooperates directly with the regulatory authorities of individual countries — Japan's PMDA and Nigeria's NAFDAC, with which a memorandum of cooperation has been signed. At the regional level, it works with the Pharmacopoeia Committee of the Eurasian Economic Commission.
This multifaceted cooperation brings the State Pharmacopoeia closer to global norms and strengthens its international recognition. All of these efforts serve one ultimate goal — preparing for membership in the Pharmacopoeial Discussion Group (PDG).
